Finding Books 101

The Pierce library owns more than 80,000 books in print, but you're not just limited to borrowing books from Pierce; current students and employees can borrow materials from any of the LACCD libraries. You can go to another library in person to borrow materials, or place a request for the items to be delivered to the library of your choice in One Search. Please note, it can take up to ten days for items to be delivered to a new location.

Using One Search to Locate Books

One Search searches through the title, author, and other basic information we have about the print books in our collection.

  1. You can search for books by their title or author, or can do a keyword search to find books about a given topic.
  2. Write down the call numbers of the books you are interested in and note their location (reference, reserve, or stacks). The call number and location will be listed on the search results screen.
  3. Bring any print books you want to check out to the Circulation Desk. Books from the stacks can be checked out for twenty-eight days and will be automatically renewed until the end of the semester.
