Demonstrations on how to embed different library resources into Canvas

What are the Library Information Literacy Tutorials?

These Canvas-based tutorials are designed specifically for Pierce students. Each module includes readings, an ungraded practice activity, and a graded quiz. 

The modules/topics included are:

  • What is Research?
  • Getting Started with Research
  • OneSearch Basics
  • Evaluating and Selecting Sources 
  • Fact-check: Understanding Misinformation and Disinformation
  • Avoiding Plagiarism & Citing Sources
  • MLA Style for Community College Researchers
  • APA Style for Community College Researchers

You are now able to import these directly into your Canvas courses from Commons. (See the instructions below.)

If you would prefer not to import the content, you may ask students to self-enroll in the class and complete the modules you assign. They will receive a PDF certificate of completion via email for each module they successfully complete from the stand alone course.

Importing Content into Canvas

The Library's Information Literacy modules have been added to Canvas Commons.

To import  these modules to your own course follow the instructions below:

  • Open Canvas Commons from the main Canvas navigation bar
  • Search Commons for Pierce Information Literacy Tutorials
  • Click on the Course name from your result list.

  • Once you are within the course, you may use the menu on the left to see the kinds of resources included in the course.
  • Add content to your own courses by clicking the "Import/Download" button on the right.
