Solar Eclipses

Planet Earth will witness a solar eclipse this April 08, 2024!

What? Eclipse?

On April 8, 2024, the Moon’s shadow will fall on Earth, creating a total solar eclipse across North America, and if you have the chance to see it, you don’t want to miss it. It’s an amazing coincidence that total eclipses happen at all — and that we’re alive at a time when we can see and predict them. So join us to find out everything you need to know to watch it. Aired: 03/07/24

“When you see totality, you are able to see the solar corona, which is the sun's atmosphere," she says. "It's the only time we get to see that, and you just have this sense of how powerful the sun is. It literally, in that moment, changes your perspective on the universe and your place in it.”

The next solar eclipse for North America will be August 2044 and only areas in Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota will experience a total eclipse.
