- Review your academic records with an LAPC counselor and/or a university representative. Follow an educational plan and develop a strategy.
- Find out which general education pattern is appropriate for your campus and/or major choice. In general, the CSU general education pattern is preferred. However, IGETC may be a good alternative.
- Take the “Golden Four” courses required for admissions early:
Transferable Math, English Composition, Critical Thinking and Oral Communication.
- Take courses for your major. Refer to www.assist.org.
- If you took AP exams in high school, ask for a CSU evaluation of those scores.
LACCD College evaluates AP scores differently than CSU campuses.
- Become aware of impaction at the CSU.
- Become aware of local area at the CSU.
- Inquire about the benefits of earning an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T/AS-T).
- Attend admissions and application workshops.
- Apply broadly to at least four campuses, especially if your first choice campus is impacted. List an alternate major if your first choice major is impacted.
